In recent years, Lithuania has seen an increase in the number of refugees and asylum seekers fleeing their countries. However, many of them face discrimination due to racism and xenophobia, and there is a lack of available information tailored to their specific needs. Solidarity being one of our main values, Trans Autonomija is committed to supporting trans refugees and migrants.
With the financial support of Transgender Europe (TGEU), from July to December 2024 Trans Autonomija has been leading a project “Bridging Gaps: Strengthening Support and Inclusivity for Trans Migrants in Lithuania”, which aims to enhance our capacity to support trans migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees in Lithuania.
Key objectives included improving organizational capacity, being able to provide accurate legal and healthcare information for trans migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, fostering cultural sensitivity, and strengthening collaboration with other organizations and collectives.
During the project, we have developed a short guide in English, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Russian languages, covering topics like accessing healthcare, legal support, and obtaining other trans-related services. We are hoping to update this guide as new information becomes available.
